The Halfords’ Apprenticeship scheme is an established and essential route into a career at Halfords whether it’s in the Distribution Centre, our shops or some parts of our Support Centre.  This role ensures that we support our learners through their Apprenticeship Programme and help them to achieve their relevant qualifications.  With over 460 job locations our Assessors can be based all over the country.


Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure accurate data has been input into management information systems to ensure compliance with ESFA rules, facilitate effective senior management decision making and to support continuous improvement in our Apprenticeship schemes
  • Using online systems to ensure all data is accurate such as Innovate, IQ, and LRS etc.
  • Regularly communicate with the leadership team to flag any persistent errors or abnormalities found in audit
  • Improve the quality of teaching and learning throughout the apprenticeship team ensuring we are stretching to the learners full potential
  • The analysis of reports to highlight any inconsistencies in apprentice progress across the business
  • Ensure the team always meet ESFA funding and business rules and Ofsted requirements
  • Providing information to help with the budgeting process for Apprenticeships
  • Auditing the work of Assessors, Team Leaders, Data & Funding team and Internal Verifiers and challenging persistent errors
  • Using BKSB to check Initial Assessment and Diagnostic results and ensure the colleague is completing the correct level of Functional Skills Maths & English and the Assessor has tailored their delivery accordingly
  • Ensuring that actions related to individual apprentices have been processed correctly in MAYTAS including breaks in the learner’s programme and tracking their return
  • Conducting regular data quality reviews and internal audits to ensure compliance with all the necessary data standards
  • Ensuring that the company is funded correctly and in line with funding rules
  • Assisting with the administration of external audits such as Ofsted and the ESFA
  • Working with the Data and Funding Manager to clear any ESFA errors
  • To assist in the analysis of the monthly DSAT reports and flag any corrections that need to be actioned
  • Track registration and certification with awarding bodies is completed within the specified timeframe
  • Keep up –to-date with ESFA funding rules and Ofsted requirements
  • Assisting Apprenticeship Team with general enquires
  • Ensure the team always meet ESFA funding and business rules and Ofsted requirements
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork has been  used to track ESFA funding
  • Ensure the apprenticeship team are completing reviews, coaching sessions etc. in line with the delivery model
  • Work to monthly KPI's and targets
  • Ensue regular communication with the leadership team to flag any persistent errors or abnormalities found in audit


Key Skills/Experience


  • Ability to handle multiple pieces of work
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of Ofsted and ESFA funding rules
  • Detail focussed and methodical
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder, both internal and external
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workflow
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Excel – minimum
  • Familiarity with Tribal MIS and portfolio systems
  • Knowledge of the ESFA funding methodology and its application to provide clarity for management decision making and accurate funding opportunities
  • Proven experience of audit
  • Reporting skills for 3rd party systems including Maytas and ESFA online systems.
