About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join our growing delivery function and take ownership of an Agile squad working across multiple client projects and our core product. This is a hands-on role where you’ll facilitate day-to-day delivery, support a cross-functional squad of developers, testers and product specialists, and help drive consistency, clarity and pace across how we work. If you thrive in collaborative environments and love enabling teams to do their best work, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-impact role.
This role is perfect for someone who’s spent the few years honing their craft as a Scrum Master and wants to help a business mature its Agile ways of working. You’ll be joining a fast-paced scale-up environment where not everything is perfectly defined, so you’ll bring structure where it’s needed, spot opportunities to streamline delivery, and act as an Agile coach across your squad. You’ll have the autonomy to shape processes, improve efficiencies and influence how we operate, all while supporting a close-knit team committed to continuous improvement.
If you’re motivated by ownership, eager to improve team performance and excited by the idea of leaving your mark on how a business delivers software, you’ll feel right at home here. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, bring ideas forward and help evolve our Agile culture as we grow. With clear development pathways, exposure to clients and the chance to support maturing delivery practices, this is a role where your contribution will be seen, valued and felt across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies, ensuring clarity, focus and momentum across the squad.
- Proactively identify and remove delivery blockers, enabling the team to work efficiently and deliver consistently.
- Work closely with Product Owners on backlog refinement, prioritisation and sprint planning.
- Coach and develop the squad in Agile principles, improving ways of working and supporting our wider Agile maturity journey.
- Bring ideas and recommendations to improve processes, delivery flow and team effectiveness.
- Track team performance through agreed metrics (velocity, predictability, sprint goals) and drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a collaborative, psychologically safe environment where teams feel supported, empowered and able to operate autonomously.
- Contribute to Agile best practice across the organisation, sharing learnings and supporting alignment with other teams.
About you
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master in software delivery, ideally within SaaS, scale-up or fast-paced tech environments.
- Skilled facilitator with strong communication, coaching and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident working in environments where processes are still maturing. Comfortable creating structure, driving clarity and handling change.
- Passionate about Agile practices, team dynamics and continuous improvement.
Experience in process improvement with a mindset for experimentation, iteration and trying new approaches.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and able to influence without authority.
- Comfortable working at pace, navigating ambiguity and supporting squads to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Reward & benefits
- A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, car allowance, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
- Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
- You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
- Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
