The Investor Relations Manager is a key hire in building out the company’s IR and ESG capability, enabling the function to take a more proactive and strategic role in driving forward our investment case. They will work closely with the Director of IR & ESG to improve reporting processes and take a more active role in providing support and advice to management and the Board.

 

Investor Relations is responsible for communicating the Halfords investment case to the market. We focus on developing and maintaining a strong relationship between the company and capital markets, including current and prospective investors and research analysts. Investor Relations collaborates extensively across the various finance functions and works cross-functionally with the broader organisation.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Critical role in the preparation of earnings announcements, including:
    • End-to-end management of the results process
    • Collaborating with colleagues in finance to ensure preparation of a robust and timely data pack
    • Drafting results materials including announcements, analyst presentations, management scripts and Q&A preparation
    • Liaising with the company’s auditors
    • Supporting colleague communications around financial reporting
  • Management of the company’s consensus model, providing insight on market expectations of company performance
  • Monitoring industry and competitor newsflow
  • Ownership of the investor relations mailbox
  • Maintenance of the investor relations website, ensuring it is clear, comprehensive and up to date with the latest company information
  • Responsibility for key sections of the Annual Report & Accounts

Supporting the Director of IR & ESG with preparation for analyst and investor events and meetings, conference participation and other ad hoc projects

 

Key Skills

 

Essential:

  • A true all-rounder, who is highly numerate but also has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong capability in PowerPoint
  • A self-starter with low ego and great people skills, able to proactively develop both internal and external relationships
  • You will be calm under pressure, with a proven ability to multitask, prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High levels of commercial acumen and the ability to develop a strong understanding of the business

Preferred:

  • Finance background (including relevant qualification e.g. CIMA / ACCA / ACA / CFA)

Previous UK-listed IR / buy-side / sell-side experience
