Job Purpose

We are looking to recruit an SEO Executive to join the Performance Marketing team. You'll play a vital role in helping us to  continually improve the organic performance of Halfords.com and our group sites. You'll need to be analytically minded, understand the power of digital marketing and have a desire to progress your career in SEO.

You will need to be comfortable working with our wider teams such as Marketing, Category teams and our external Marketing Agencies. As a member of the SEO team, you will be a champion for all things SEO, empowering colleagues and educating them on why SEO is important in their roles.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in the day-to-day activity of our over-arching SEO strategy.
  • Work in conjunction with the wider teams on product launches, new page designs and content production. Ensuring SEO is a key consideration throughout.
  • Undertake and perform regular site crawls using our third-party tools (Screaming Frog & Lumar).
  • Offer advice and support in the implementation of on page optimisation, based on insights and research.
  • Identify technical SEO elements and issues that require fixing and resolving.
  • Have a desire to absorb SEO knowledge and an interest in keeping up to date across algorithm updates, search engine guidelines and wider digital channels.
  • Work closely with content, merchandisers & digital support to ensure our content, new digital initiatives and wider work have SEO consideration throughout.
  • Conduct keyword research, monitor rankings and report back on performance.

 

Key Skills/Experience

  • You have previous SEO or digital marketing experience either at an agency or in-house.
  • You understand the importance of technical SEO, on page, off page and content.
  • You excel in finding issues, opportunities, and problems to solve.
  • You understand how to utilise reporting tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, if you can also use visualization tools such as Looker Studio or PowerBi this would be a bonus.
  • Experience in using Ahrefs/SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Lumar, SEOMonitor or equivalent third-party SEO tools.
  • An ability to interpret SEO data using excel, google sheets and presenting back findings in simple non-complex language.

 

Must Haves 

  • At least 1-2 years SEO/digital marketing experience in an agency or inhouse role
  • Demonstrable experience in how to implement SEO and undertake SEO based research
  • A desire to learn more about SEO and become an expert in this area. (training and support will be provided)

Things that will be a huge bonus

  • An ability to demonstrate strong SEO experience and provide concrete example campaigns.
  • Copywriting skills – part of our role can include writing content if you have demonstrable experience here it would prove a huge bonus.
  • Regular use of technical software such as ScreamingFrog, Lumar etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of performing large scale SEO audits and implementation across e-commerce.
  • A strong understanding of HTML and JavaScript. Understanding the role, they play in technical SEO
  • An ability to identify keyword opportunities and an ability to test and learn from the changes implemented to demonstrate success.

 

We are looking for someone who has had exposure to the core pillars of SEO and someone who wants to become an expert in this area. This role is a newly created role for a passionate and driven digital marketer. One who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at finding and resolving problems and wants to be seen as the go-to SEO expert at Halfords.

In-house support and training will be provided to build up your knowledge from our in-house SEO team and where applicable our external SEO agencies
