About the role

As the HR Business' Partner for Support Centre, you're main focus is to work in partnership with senior leaders, key stakeholders and HR Centres of Expertise to shape, develop and deliver People Plans and solutions in line with the needs and priorities of the Halfords Group business. 

This role operates as a strategic partner to the business, navigating both tactical and operational challenges to influence the future direction of the business. It requires the ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on support, ensuring that people plans are effectively implemented across partnered functions. The role holder will collaborate with other People Business Partners and Centres of Expertise, ensuring consistency in approach and delivery.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with senior leaders within Halfords Support Centre (Executive, Directors and Heads of Function) members to align people strategies with the organisation’s vision and strategic objectives.
  • Optimises organisational design to support business agility and growth, ensuring structures align with strategic goals.
  • Facilitates change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions and effective communication during periods of change.
  • Drives leadership development programs, ensuring senior leaders are equipped to lead high-performing teams.
  • Champions a performance management culture, developing high-performing teams through robust talent management and engagement strategies.
  • Leads initiatives to improve employee engagement and retention, ensuring action plans address key areas for improvement.
  • Acts as a critical friend, challenging senior leaders when necessary to ensure decisions align with the company’s values and culture.
  • Influences leadership thinking on people matters, providing a balanced perspective on strategic issues.
  • Works closely with Centres of Expertise, including Reward, Talent Development, and ED&I, to deliver integrated people solutions.
  • Supports the recruitment and employee relations processes, offering advice and coaching to leaders.

 

Key Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in a senior people partnering role, with a track record of supporting board-level stakeholders in large or medium-sized organisations.
  • Proven ability to translate business goals into effective people strategies.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to link people initiatives to business outcomes.
  • Experience in managing budgetary elements associated with people programs.
  • Proficient in using people analytics and HR metrics to drive strategy and measure success.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Thorough understanding of employment law and best practices.
