About the role

We're looking for a Digital Learning Designer to join our dynamic Skills Development team, reporting to the Group Learning & Development Manager.

In this role, you’ll design and develop innovative learning solutions that equip our colleagues with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive across the One Halfords Family. You'll have the chance to shape engaging content, enhance existing programmes, and recommend fresh approaches that truly make a difference.

With a focus on choosing the best formats to deliver training effectively, you’ll play a key role in our continuous learning journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Scope, develop, and design a range of engaging training solutions including eLearning, eBriefs, podcasts, interactive PDFs, and video content, all aligned to business objectives, timelines, and budgets.

  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and meets both learner and business needs.

  • Take ownership of delivering high-quality, creative content that is timely and on-brand.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance existing learning materials, ensuring consistency across the Halfords brand.

  • Work collaboratively across the One Halfords Family to align and embed learning consistently throughout the organisation.

  • Liaise with third-party providers when needed to support the development of externally commissioned learning solutions.

  • Leverage innovative tools and implement processes that enhance the design and curation of learning content.

  • Maintain a strong customer focus by understanding colleague needs, challenges, and constraints, and using this insight to inform decisions.

  • Stay up to date with the latest tools, trends, and best practices in learning design, sharing knowledge to drive continuous improvement across the team.

  • Ensure all content meets quality, legal, and compliance standards, with keen attention to detail throughout the development process.

About you

  • Skilled in using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Captivate, and Adobe Creative Cloud, with a flair for writing storyboards and scripts that bring content to life.

  • Strong understanding of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and blended learning approaches to support skills, knowledge, and behavioural development.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders, collaborate across teams, and manage the full training cycle from concept to delivery.

  • Analytical and creative, able to research, design, and deliver impactful learning solutions that are both personalised and insight-driven.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and organised—with a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for helping people learn and grow.

Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.

  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.

  • You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.

  • Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.

Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
