About the role
We are seeking a Health & Safety Assistant to support the Group Head of Health & Safety in the integration, maintenance, and development of health and safety systems across the Halfords Group. The role will act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters at the Redditch Support Centre, while coordinating administrative activities within the central health and safety team. The successful candidate will also assist with day-to-day queries and manage both internal and external communications related to health and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Group Head of Health & Safety and the wider Health & Safety team.
- Maintain health and safety records, databases, and statistical reports, ensuring accurate tracking of accidents, incidents, and liability claims.
- Coordinate correspondence and documentation relating to Employee and Public Liability claims, including support to Occupational Health where required.
- Assist in the development and distribution of health and safety training materials, guidance documents, and safety communications.
- Support the delivery of the Halfords Group Health & Safety Roadmap and contribute to health and safety improvement initiatives across the business.
- Conduct office and distribution centre audits/inspections and assist with investigations into accidents, incidents, and safety concerns.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, support Visible Safety Leadership (VSL) activities, and promote best practice across the Halfords Group.

- Dependable, proactive, and highly motivated.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
