About us

Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for cocreators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.

Technology at Halfords is at a turning point. We’re modernising our foundations, sharpening our delivery, and ensuring every technology decision is connected to real commercial and customer outcomes.

We're looking for people who act as trusted advisors to the business, take end-to-end accountability for outcomes, and can balance pace with long-term architectural integrity. Innovation here means practical, scalable solutions, not ideas that stay on whiteboards.

Halfords operates a hybrid working policy – this position will be based 3 days per week at our support centre in Redditch, West Midlands.

About the role

As a Data Business Partner, you operate at the intersection of data capability and business need, ensuring the products we build are adopted, deliver measurable outcomes, and create real value for the organisation. You'll own the product vision, set priorities, and steer teams through the full lifecycle from discovery to continuous improvement, keeping data investment pointed at outcomes that matter.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders to uncover real needs, translate them into a clear delivery roadmap, and guide execution. This includes agreeing KPIs, tracking impact, shaping business cases, and navigating trade‑offs and priorities. You’ll also coach product managers and help raise the standard of product practice across the function. It’s a strong opportunity for someone who thrives on connecting strategy to delivery, influencing at all levels, and shaping a business early in its data journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape and own the data product vision and value proposition, ensuring it connects clearly to business goals, user needs, and is understood by stakeholders at every level
  • Act as a trusted advisor and business partner, working cross‑functionally and building strong, effective partnerships with senior stakeholders.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for the data product lifecycle, from discovery through delivery and into continuous improvement, with clear entry and exit criteria at each stage
  • Build and maintain a prioritised product roadmap, balancing value, risk, and dependency to keep the team working on what matters most and reduce avoidable churn
  • Establish how success will be measured, agree KPIs with stakeholders, and use performance data to drive iteration and improve product quality and adoption over time
  • Contribute to business cases and investment decisions, helping leaders understand the expected return and make better choices about where to direct resource
  • Keep stakeholders informed and aligned, managing expectations proactively and communicating clearly on priorities, progress, and trade-offs
  • Support and develop product managers within the team, helping to raise product practice standards and embed consistent ways of working

About you

  • A proven track record leading complex data products through the full lifecycle, with the judgement to make evidence-based decisions under pressure
  • Comfortable owning a product roadmap end to end, managing competing priorities and dependencies without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Skilled at defining and tracking product outcomes, including setting KPIs, building measurement frameworks, and using data to drive meaningful iteration
  • Someone who brings genuine user empathy to prioritisation decisions, able to represent user needs clearly in internal discussions and push back when solutions miss the point
  • A credible and trusted communicator at senior level, equally comfortable in a steering committee and a delivery stand-up
  • Experience writing business cases and making the commercial case for data investment in language that resonates with non-technical decision-makers
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Databricks or Power BI is a bonus, as is any exposure to AI or agentic product development

Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, car allowance, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
  • We offer hybrid working with a blend of working in our Support Centre and from home.
  • You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
  • Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.

Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.

Note: Halfords operates a hybrid working policy – this position will be based 3 days per week at our support centre in Redditch, West Midlands.
